Potassium carbonate uses is also known as potassium base (potash), molecular formula: K2CO3. The impure is commonly known as oxaline, aleurine or pearl ash. White crystalline powder. Density 2.428g/cm3 (19℃). Melting point 891℃. High thermal stability, heating to 1000℃ does not decompose. Easy deliquescence. Soluble in water. Insoluble in ethyl ether and ethanol. Potassium carbonate uses has a strong hygroscopic, easy to caking, long-term contact with the air, easy to absorb carbon dioxide into potassium bicarbonate. There are three kinds of hydrate salts: monohydrate salt, dihydrate salt and trihydrate salt. The saturated aqueous solution is cooled to precipitate glassy monoclinic crystal hydrate 2K2CO3·3H2O. At 100℃, the crystal water is lost.
