Calcium ammonium nitrate is used as a fertilizer. Fertilizer grade calcium ammonium nitrate contains roughly 18.5% calcium and 15.5% nitrogen. CAN is preferred for use on acid soils, as it acidifies soil less than many common nitrogen fertilizers.
CAN contains 15.5% nitrogen, 14.0-14.4% nitrate nitrogen, 1.1-1.3% ammoniacal nitrogen and 26% calcium oxide. It consists of dust-free, white free-flowing granules.
