Description
Potassium Bicarbonate Food Grade has the chemical formula KHCO₃. This substance usually exists in the form of colorless, transparent monoclinic crystals or white crystals, is odorless and salty. It has good solubility in water, is difficult to dissolve in alcohol, and its aqueous solution is weakly alkaline. Food-grade potassium bicarbonate is stable in the air, with a relative density of 2.17. It is one of the raw materials for producing potassium carbonate, potassium acetate, potassium arsenite and other substances. As a food additive, it plays an important role in baking, seasoning and acidity regulation, and is usually packaged in powder form for easy storage and use.
Features
High purity ensures food safety
Potassium Bicarbonate Food Grade has a purity of more than 99.0%, far exceeding industry standards. This high purity feature ensures that its application in food will not introduce any harmful impurities, thereby ensuring the purity and safety of food. The content of impurities such as sulfate and chloride is controlled below 0.05%, and the content of insoluble matter and iron is less than 0.02% and 0.001% respectively.
Stable physical and chemical properties
Food grade potassium bicarbonate has stable physical and chemical properties, with a molecular formula of KHCO3, a molecular weight of 100.115, and a density of 2.17g/cm³. In the air, it shows extremely high stability and is not prone to chemical reactions. At the same time, it also has good water solubility, can quickly dissolve in water and form a weakly alkaline aqueous solution. This feature enables food grade potassium bicarbonate to play an excellent acidity regulation function in the food processing process, helping to improve the taste and flavor of food. In addition, its melting point is as high as 292℃, and it will not decompose at conventional food processing temperatures, ensuring the stability and reliability of the product.
Precise acidity regulation ability
As an acidity regulator, Potassium Bicarbonate Food Grade has precise acidity regulation ability. The pH value of its aqueous solution can be adjusted as needed to meet the acidity requirements of different foods. This feature makes food grade potassium bicarbonate widely used in many food fields such as baking, beverages, and dairy products. By precisely controlling the acidity of food, it can not only improve the taste and flavor of food, but also extend the shelf life of food and reduce the risk of food spoilage.
Excellent leavening effect
In the baking field, food-grade potassium bicarbonate also exhibits excellent leavening effect. It can decompose and produce carbon dioxide gas during heating, making the dough swell and soften, thus making baked products with better taste. Compared with traditional sodium bicarbonate, food-grade potassium bicarbonate has a milder leavening effect and can avoid the problem of loose structure caused by excessive dough expansion. This feature makes food-grade potassium bicarbonate one of the important additives in the baking field.
