Product Introduction

Description

Copper Nitrate Trihydrate is an inorganic compound composed of copper ions, nitrate ions and water molecules in a specific ratio. Its chemical formula is Cu(NO₃)₂·3H₂O, which means that each copper ion is coordinated with two nitrate ions and three water molecules. At room temperature and pressure, copper nitrate trihydrate is usually dark blue columnar crystals with a relative density of 2.05 and a melting point of 114.5℃. It is easily soluble in water and ethanol to form a blue solution, and its aqueous solution is acidic. Copper nitrate trihydrate is deliquescent, that is, it easily absorbs moisture from the air. As a strong oxidant, it may cause combustion and explosion when heated, rubbed or hit with carbon dust, sulfur or other combustible materials.

Features
Clear physical properties and stability
Copper Nitrate Trihydrate appears as blue crystals with a relative density of 2.074. This clear physical property makes the product easy to identify and distinguish during storage, transportation and use. At the same time, the product loses three molecules of crystal water at 26.4℃, and begins to decompose into basic salt at 65℃. These temperature nodes provide important reference for the stable use of the product and ensure the safety of application under different temperature conditions. In addition, its easy solubility in water and ethanol, as well as the characteristics of strong solution being green and dilute solution being light blue, make the product have intuitive visual indication during dissolution and application.

Good solubility and easy handling
Copper Nitrate Trihydrate has good solubility in both water and ethanol. This feature allows the product to be easily prepared into solutions of the required concentration, which is convenient for application in various chemical reactions and processes. At the same time, although its easy deliquescent nature requires attention to moisture-proof during use, it also provides convenience for certain applications that require a humid environment. For example, when preparing certain coatings or catalysts, its easy deliquescent nature can be used to adjust the humidity and dispersibility of the product.

Clear thermal stability and reaction characteristics
The product dissolves in its crystal water at 114.5℃, loses nitric acid to form basic copper nitrate when heated to 170℃, and decomposes into copper oxide when heated to 200℃. These clear thermal stability data provide important temperature references for product processing and use. When temperature control is required for chemical reactions or material processing, process parameters can be accurately adjusted according to these temperature nodes to ensure product stability and reaction effects.

Oxidation and safe application
Copper Nitrate Trihydrate is oxidizing and is prone to explosion or combustion when mixed with other combustibles or flammables. Although this feature requires special attention to safe operation during use, it also provides possibilities for certain applications that require oxidation reactions. For example, when preparing certain oxidants or conducting oxidation reactions, its oxidizing properties can be used to promote the reaction. At the same time, clarifying its oxidizing properties also helps to take effective safety measures during use to prevent accidents.
